Accident Claims
Road traffic Accident...
If you have been involved in a road accident, whether as a driver or a pedestrian, you could be entitled to claim compensation.
All motorists must have insurance cover, so that if there is an accident, compensation is available for people who have been injured. This includes their own passengers. You can still claim compensation even if the driver was uninsured or it was a hit and run accident.
If you have been involved in a road accident, whether as a driver or a pedestrian, you could be entitled to claim compensation.
Accident at Work...
If you have been involved in an accident at work you could be entitled to claim compensation.
You may have been inadequately trained, been provided with faulty equipment or hurt through the fault of a fellow employee.
Your employee has a legal duty to comply with Health & Safety Regulations and is responsible for the actions of your fellow employees. If you have been hurt through a breach of the relevant legal rules or the carelessness of a fellow employee, it is likely that you have a strong case.
Public Liability...
Accidents in public places can occur in all sorts of environments. Shop owners and other occupiers must take sufficient steps to ensure the safety of the public. For example, falling in a shop because the shop owner should have properly cleaned up a spillage.
If you have an accident whilst on a shop owner/occupier’s premises, it is certainly worth enquiring to establish whether you are entitled to compensation.

Hearing Loss
Many workers have been exposed to excessive noise during their work life only to find that in later years they can have difficulties with hearing, often more obvious when in company or in the presence of background noise or open to complaints from family members or the television or radio being set to extreme levels.
Experiencing any of those symptoms or the often very unpleasant symptoms of tinnitus, which manifest itself as a noise in the ear often described as a buzzing or hissing noise and can be present constantly or intermittently, may mean you are entitled to claim compensation, particularly if you remember working in an environment where you may have had to raise your voice to communicate with fellow employees.

Divorce...
The breakdown of a marriage can be a difficult and painful experience. If you have decided that your marriage has ended we can guide you through the process of obtaining a divorce. In terms of resolving all the outstanding matters we pride ourselves in adopting a conciliatory and constructive approach to the divorce process where ever possible.
Often both spouses can agree the relationship is over. In this situation we can take care to draft the petition sensitively in order to avoid any unnecessary distress. Hopefully all parties will want to sort things out as quickly and amicably as possible, but in the event matters take a turn for the worse we hope we can help you through the process with compassion and support to make it all bearable and answer any questions you may have.
Separation...
Where a couple are not in a hurry to dissolve their marriage but wish to record the financial agreement that they have reached dealing with the financial consequences of their decision to separate, this can be done in a Deed of separation.
People sometimes refer to this as a "legal separation" and is becoming more and more common especially with couples who have children and don't want the formal label divorce attached to the arrangement.
It can also be used if the couple have not married and wish to formally record the distribution of their assets and debt. It means you can rest assured the hard work is done and a divorce if and when the time comes is a paper exercise.

Maintenance...
The Child Support Agency (CSA) is responsible for assessing the amount of child support maintenance which the parent who does not reside in the same home as the child after divorce or separation should pay towards the upkeep of the child. We will be able to give you an indication of the amount of child maintenance which the CSA will require the non-resident parent to pay.
If you and your spouse can reach an agreement as to the level of child maintenance, the Courts retain limited powers to make Orders. The Courts also have powers to make top-up Orders in high income cases or to make Orders to meet the costs of education or training.
The CSA has jurisdiction where all parties reside in the UK. If one of the parents of the child is living abroad, an application can be made to a Court for child maintenance.
Spousal Maintenance...
Application can be made to the Court for one spouse to pay periodical payments (i.e. maintenance) to the other. The amount of maintenance will be based on the income and other financial resources available to the parties and their respective financial needs. We will advise as to whether the payment of spousal maintenance is relevant in your case and can advise as to appropriate levels of maintenance and the duration of such payments.
Care Orders...
Some times social services may apply to the Court for a Care Order or a Supervision Order. A Care Order will vest parental responsibility into the social workers and they will make decisions for the child including deciding where the child resides. A Supervision Order will give the social worker a duty to monitor children, who will generally remain living at home or with family members. Social workers sometimes apply for an Emergency Protection Order or a Secure Accommodation Order. Legal Aid is available for representation in all these types of court proceedings.

Contact / Residence Disputes...
Our law in Northern Ireland relating to children is the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.
We can help in resolving disputes as to the care of children through the court and / or through mediation and negotiation. Often when parties separate and there are young children involved tensions are at an all time high. We try to encourage agreement as soon as possible in order to avoid distress to the parents and to the children although we always ensure our client's concerns are put forward and addressed. Perhaps we wont have to go to Court but if we do the aim is to formalise matters in early course.
